Rule Keeper – Automation Cost Control for Jira
Rule Keeper shows what your Jira Automation rules cost under Atlassian's step-based billing, finds rules that waste steps or will break, and keeps a history of every change. It runs entirely on Atlassian's platform: no data leaves your site.

- Cost forecast explained

What you get
| Tab | What it does |
|---|---|
| Cost | Estimated steps per rule per month from your real issue activity, compared with your plan's allowance, and the projected extra cost. |
| Inventory | Every rule with state, scope, trigger and number of actions. |
| Changes | What was added, removed or changed between the last two snapshots. |
| Lint | Duplicated logic, name collisions, rules without actions, broad global triggers, conditions that cost a step on every event, branches and scheduled rules that multiply steps, log actions, rules running as deactivated or personal accounts. |
| Upload | Paste an Automation export to create a snapshot. |
| Sync | Set up the optional tool that pushes snapshots on a schedule. |
Who can use it
Only users with the Jira Administer Jira global permission. The app is in Jira settings → Apps → Rule Keeper. The interface follows your Atlassian profile language: English or Polish.
Why now
From 3 December 2026 Atlassian bills Automation per step. Every component that runs is one step, and a trigger that matches nothing still costs one. Steps above your organisation's monthly allowance cost $0.50 per 1,000.
